She's learned how to use tools such as the DMA-80 (Direct Mercury Analyzer) to characterize mercury concentrations in skin samples from endangered southern resident killer whales and their prey and is now working on an honours thesis about ringed seal health in Northern Labrador.

SFU Chemistry student Leo Kan applied for a co-op role as a student research scientist at E-One Molicel because he wanted to develop useful job skills.

"Co-op helped me to explore my future in the field of chemistry and gain knowledge in a way that I could not have learned in a classroom," he says.

BPK student Priya Dhaliwal completed a USRA term at #SFU WearTech Labs where she had the opportunity to work with advanced technology such as motion captures systems, force plates, and a wearable metabolic system, and got hands-on experience with running experiments and analyzing data.
