We are making big strides toward Bay restoration! With construction underway on the Palo Alto Baylands Horizontal Levee this winter we will install 3,000 native plants to improve habitat along the marshland.

The Bay Area is more than halfway toward its goal of restoring 100,000 acres of tidal wetlands, which are a natural buffer to floodwaters from future sea level rise.

The region now boasts 57,800 acres of restored tidal marsh

A new report from the Wetlands Regional Monitoring Program, co-managed with the San Francisco Estuary Institute, indicates that restored tidal wetlands in the Bay almost quadrupled from 2000 to 2020, bringing the total to 53,000 acres and growing.

Calling all volunteers! Volunteers will receive complimentary registration for each day they volunteer at the State of the Estuary Conference.
