I like hot rocks and a cool climate. I run policy for Fervo Energy. These posts don't even represent me.

Really good analysis by @csis.org on how tax policy is critical to accelerating next-generation geothermal. Particularly helpful to look at what has worked in the past for spurring the shale boom. EGS is following the playbook here, need to stay the course. www.csis.org/analysis/ira...

I love how this guy came in with super strong and totally unfounded opinions, was shown to be wrong, and decided the right move was to maintain the hubris and double down on being wrong. cleantechnica.com/2025/03/18/e...

Net-zero California by 2045:
• 82GW of EGS
• 40% reduction in system capacity
• 8.6% reduction in system cost

Let's just do it and be legends. pubs.rsc.org/en/Content/A...

The report captures a key point about the scalability of geothermal: we're really good at drilling. In the last 5 years, the number of wells we've drilled in the top 5 shale plays is equivalent to 133GW of geothermal capacity. We can build this stuff at speed and scale.

We're down to the wire on permitting reform for this Congress and @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social does a good job here breaking it down. However, I would love if one of these pieces didn't yadda yadda the geothermal provisions. They're really good and super bipartisan! A BFD! heatmap.news/politics/per...

WECC forecasts 20% increase in annual load by 2034, double the forecasted increase from two years ago. Buckle up and get to building.

The American Energy Society has named Geothermal as the "Most Interesting Sector" of 2024!

Now I just need it be the most interesting topic at a party and I'll be all set. www.energysociety.org/uploads/1/1/...

The geothermal provisions in Sec. 208 of EPRA are uncontroversial, bipartisan and important for the accelerated growth and innovation of next-generation geothermal technologies at a critical time for the industry.

Psst -- another piece of legislation to accelerate geothermal energy development just passed the House with wide bipartisan support. Congrats to Rep. Fulcher (R-ID) for pushing the CLEAN Act (H.R. 1449) over the finish line.

This sentiment (relayed here by @shanumathew.bsky.social) is 100% correct and needs to be better appreciated by everyone in the utility/data center/power development space. BTM is not a panacea for load growth.

Thrilled to see the House continue to advance supportive energy legislation in the lame duck session.

From the Majority Leader's office, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Enhanced geothermal is popular on both sides of the aisle, improves our energy security and is huge for rural development and reliability.

Important to recognize where progress can be made and get aggressive. Scalable and affordable clean firm is on the table? Take the W!
