further youll find that most women do indeed want a man who is nice to them, just as you probably want someone who is nice to you. women who want men to be hostile to them or not disrespect them tend to have past issues with men who have misused them and eventually recover (i am one of these people)

a man can actually be dominant and "nice" and "docile" to women at the same time. i think youd be very interested to meet a man like that and they do exist, and i date them primarily

it's true that a lot of women like dominant men, and i am one of them, but youll find that isn't the case of all women or even most women, and that that also has nothing to do with what feminists want out of men, which is to not be systematically oppressed or dehumanized

well, it's worth noting that not having people to fuck is not oppression. i think youll also find this is another major understanding gap between you and feminists. feminists view sexuality with a lot more nuance, whereas that view is very flat and broad which makes it simplistic

it's also worth noting that the objectification of women as a basis a reduction in their rights *also leads to an ideology of objectifying men* under opposite standards. this is why feminists see the patriarchy as still responsible for things like the draft

the thing is, objectification of women will always be taboo because of the long history associated with this as a basis for oppression, even if we lived in a country that has complete parity between men and women

i think something we can do to gain more common ground is eschew the notion that this is about current lapses in women's rights or the current patriarchy. that's something i don't necessarily agree with but it doesn't really matter

that's a basic understanding of it and that is objectification in some ways, but this is not really what feminists are talking about. it's about living in a culture that accepts sexual assault, living in a world where women are denied individual personhood on the basis of their sex, etc

the objectification of women is not really even the problem on its face, which is why it is not as important with men. the problem with objectification is that women face discrimination and danger because we live in a culture that uses objectification to deny women rights and human status

i was a man for a long time. these kind of comments were rarely used against me, never weaponized against me, never threatened my safety, my ability to protect myself, or my rights. this is what people are talking about with the harms of objectifying women. they do not apply to men

it's just bc there's a long history of objectifying and dehumanizing women being written into law. with men it's not high stakes, it's basically just a joke that causes no harm. it's a double standard bc it's based on the old double standard
