Realized last night that while no, I cannot guesstimate what six inches is, let alone how far is ten feet... I can eyeball a flour measurement within 5 grams accuracy, same for fluids...

Post-therapy cry over the fact that having a puppy means I'm re-visiting the abuse & trauma of my childhood, and how viscerally not-like my paternal I want and try to be every day of my life.

Iris had her consult with a behavior specialist & trainer today; she is considered "proactive" and needs a bit less freedom / a lot more structure in order to become her best doggy-self. We have homework, and she's going to be getting a crate for downtime.

Well that was "exciting"... Somebody's poodle, off leash & unattended charged at us while I was waking Iris. She's still dog-nervous, and panicked; I yelled for an owner and was able to pull her back to the corner. But then there were 2 others on walks (leashed)...
