I saw Ax last night with @philorch.bsky.social at @carnegiehall.bsky.social and remembered I had this video from the John Williams concerto curtain call at Tanglewood in July.

FYI, this is the second week of an excellent Schubertiade on “Exploring Music” by Bill McLaughlin on WFMT-FM (syndicated to many NPR stations.)

Which A minor piano sonata - D784 or D845? I love ‘em both.

Lynn Ahrens, who wrote and sang “The Preamble”, also wrote this, among other great songs.
(Thanks to @feldmanadam.bsky.social for pointing this out.)

I seem to recall that ~ half of the orchestral recordings on our public radio’s classical programs in the 80s/early-mid 90s were conducted by either Neville Marriner or Neeme Järvi. As I was building my CD collection, I bought a lot of Järvi and still have quite a few.

I love this opera. I was looking forward to seeing it at the MET Opera in April 2020, but the season was cancelled mid-March, and the opera house did not reopen until Sept 2021. I am eager to see it again. Enjoy!

Whenever I have a respiratory infection with my voice an octave lower, if I call someone, I say “this may sound like Brenda Vaccaro, but it’s actually [me] with a bad cold.” I’ve been doing this since the mid-90s.
