The Undeads are pretty good but they can’t really compare to the Beach Bums.

A few people have asked, so here’s a link to the playlist I created for Hellebore’s Cave of Mysteries at Tate Britain.

Wow, had no idea this existed. A 1948 radio show about A Streetcar Named Desire winning the Drama Critics Circle Award featuring scenes performed by the original Broadway cast including Jessica Tandy as Blanche. Tantalizing and invaluable glimpse at how she played it.

I wrote briefly (and freely, if you catch my drift) about a couple of production stills from The Wild Party (1929) I found on eBay, one of which hints at an interesting change in the film's production, which could be simple, or not at all. Link: vitaphonezone.substack.com/p/production...
Production Stills, Gone Wild
Now that you’ve been reeled in by my unduly scandalous title, a trap many moviegoers have found themselves in over the past century, I’ll keep on spinning my same broken record.

Shirley Temple as Rhoda Penmark in The Bad Seed.
Every time I finally come home after being with someone in a hospital, I remember this Philip Larkin verse.

Selflessness is like waiting in a hospital
In a badly-fitting suit on a cold wet morning.
Selfishness is like listening to good jazz
With drinks for further orders and a huge fire.
Maybe they know what it is and the were just trying to find out which font it was. Please let it be that.
When I was a kid I lived in Wales for a couple of years and since we were about 5 miles from
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
we had a lesson on how to pronounce it in school. Locals usually just said Llanfair PG.

Horror ppl should watch Hell-Bound Train (James & Eloyce Gist, 1930) on @criterionchannl.bsky.social. The Gists were Black evangelists & amateur filmmakers who used their films in their sermons. This film is a catalogue of sins. Even w/ no budget, it has surprisingly haunting moments throughout.
Sarah, I’m glad hear your husband’s surgery went well and I wish him a speedy recovery. There was a lot of hopeful news yesterday but good personal news like this is the best of all.
