It goes into that weird thing that genuine appreciation is somehow considered less intellectual than criticism but everybody is getting trained to be such a cynical unfeeling asshole nowadays that I find the smartest people often are the “hell yeah cool song/drawing/story/video” people

It's happening again. Although this time I blame the blurb for misleading me about when a key plot point happens. Telling prospective readers something that doesn't happen until 30% in is what kick off the action sets the reader up to have their patience tested.
"Is the pacing in this book too slow or do I just have ADHD?" The number of times I've asked myself this question is getting ridiculous.
