The beautiful #northcountrytrail is a growing national treasure. The things listed below are minor things, in the big picture, but still a shitty result of the #shutdown.

Because a third of SEMA’s members are internal combustion engine (ICE) dependent, the organization was especially motivated to share its views on the EPA’s proposed rule, which can chart an important new direction for innovation and vehicle choice and promises to protect a $100 billion segment of the U.S. economy, including more than 330,000 U.S. jobs. In comments responding to the EPA’s rulemaking for Docket ID No. EPA–HQ–OAR–2025–0194 — Reconsideration of the 2009 Endangerment Finding and Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Standards, SEMA identified economic and cultural considerations for re-establishing a foundation of vehicle choice in the U.S. automotive market, which, because of recent GHG emissions policies, have experienced an erosion of affordability and innovation.

An email from WMEAC (West Michigan Environmental Action Council) announcing the end of the annual, volunteer river clean-up. This is the text: A Message to Our Valued Partners and Volunteers It is with deep regret that we must inform you, our valued partners, sponsors, and volunteers, that the annual WMEAC Mayors’ Grand River Cleanup will not be taking place this year. We are extremely disappointed to put this cherished community event on what we hope is a temporary hiatus. The volatile economic and political environment, together with some recent disappointing news about grants, mean that we have not met our revenue goals for the year. We simply don’t have the capacity at this time to plan, staff, and fund this large-scale community engagement and volunteer event that has been WMEAC’s signature event for the past 21 years. It’s only because of past volunteers and financial supporters like you that the River Cleanup has been such a success in the past. It’s only because of you that WMEAC has a 55-year legacy of being a trail-blazing, community-focused champion for environmental education and policies. We are truly grateful for your past support and partnership. While we must pause the River Cleanup this year, we are confident that with your continued financial support and collaboration, WMEAC can maintain and build upon its impressive 55-year legacy of vital environmental work during these challenging times.
