ok well. no one can ever know for certain but he had spoken in interviews about growing up in poverty and about being abused by authority figures as a child. and he had also published works under at least three different names, so there is that

seemingly unrelatedly, in a sci-journalism class i took a couple yrs ago i learned that the average american adult has the functional literacy of a 7th grader. makes you think. i wonder if there's a way to change this. maybe even through something like giving a single shit about childrens education

YES that sounds so good! like actually it is a good thing (maybe even a responsibility???) to encourage curiosity in kids... cannot imagine ever thinking they should have fewer opportunities to learn something new
