Even in the face of sweeps up to 3 times a week, our friends in Ballard are able to come together every Sunday to share a meal with us. This week we had taco bowls, coffee and cocoa, harm reduction supplies including narcan, wound care kits and safe injection kits. We also had a medic offering wound care and supplies, and teaching folks how to take care of injuries, and where they can find additional care in the community. We are always seeking clothing donations, hygiene supplies, new members to join us, and funds to keep this work going!

Today TRU sent a solidarity statement to ATU Local 265, which represents transit operators in the South Bay who have been on strike.
TRU logo with text: "April 2, 2025 Statement of Solidarity with ATU Local 265 from the Seattle Transit Riders Union We, the Members of the Seattle Transit Riders Union, stand in solidarity with the transit operators of Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and their union, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265. The operators of the ATU Local 265 have invoked their right to strike for wages that keep pace with inflation, measures of workplace safety, and mediation of grievances. The obstinacy of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in refusing to agree to the operators’ legitimate demands left riders of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority without public transit service between March 9th and at least March 26th, 2025, when a judge issued a preliminary injunction ordering the temporary suspension of the strike. We affirm the right of ATU Local 265 to strike and the necessity of raising new revenue to fund good wages and service expansion. We call on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to seek additional resources for the well-being of the riders, operators, and the sustainability of transit in Santa Clara County and the South Bay."
