Living at home with my science denying dad is so exhausting. Why was he SO triggered when I told my brother that climate change will cause birds to change their behaviors and ranges? Brain dead to the max.

Meet Flip! (Their sibling’s name is Flop🩴). Flip n’ Flop were the last two western snowy plover chicks I helped to band as a WDFW biologist this past summer (with all appropriate USGS and BBL permits). I spotted Flip a few days ago on a survey, all grown up, on the same beach they were born on.

A sunset-lit, belted king fisher perched up on a decaying tree above the Willapa River. The pale colored Willapa Hills are in the background, with a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees.

Hannah (@timid1ty.bsky.social) and I saw lots of cute killdeer on our Sunday walk. I love how goofy they are -- nesting very successfully in disturbed areas like parking lot gravel, as well as the beach! They always screech and follow me around when I am doing my duties as a Snowy Plover Biologist.
