I’m watching John Carpenter’s Starman, or “ET for grownups” according to lazy people. But it’s much more than that, like The Terminator a flawed mayfly love affair, with incredible performances from Bridges and Karen Allen. Should’ve won Oscars galore but at least Bridges was nominated.

I was resigned to Doctor Who being in the wilderness again. It felt like it had had its time, and would only benefit from a long rest. Now it’s back again in just over a year, and I feel like a beloved friend has survived death only to be rendered a cabbage.

I am now of an age - 53 and change - when I go back to a shop if I’ve been overcharged when a 2 for 1 offer hasn’t been acknowledged. It can’t be long now until I complain about anyone under the age of 25 for simply walking down the road.
