As an Editor-in-Chief trying to support inundated staff (many of whom are US based), this is NOT an acceptable email to send to authors requesting an update after 7 months of silence. Especially when the reason “that guy” didn’t turn his review in is bc the Editor forgot to email him 😮💨

Earlier in the week one of my papers was rejected. A normal part of academic publishing, sure. However, I personally find the Editor’s statements offensive & exclusionary. I sent a polite appeal; his failure to engage in meaningful conversation speaks volumes about the journal’s “commitment” to DEI

Yesterday…”the one” appeared in the bushes. It is now tucked safely away on the ship, ready to be shoved into my suitcase (where it will take up 80% of the space) and travel 10,000 km home. Andrew (my husband) is thrilled 🤣🤣
