The ocean produces 50 percent of the oxygen we need, absorbs 25 percent of all carbon emissions, and captures 90 percent of the heat generated by emissions

We owe everything to our oceans.

To me, innovation means ideas powerful enough to shift mindsets, change cultures, and reimagine what’s possible - not just what’s profitable.

At its core, it should be in service of a more equitable, sustainable world for the majority, not just a privilege few.

Anything less is just marketing.

Innovation is becoming a nonsense word like ‘sustainability’, it is used so often that it means many things and nothing at the same time.

True luxury should honor the makers and the materials, not just serve as a symbol of status. It’s time to reimagine value — one where creativity, craft, and care for people and planet are at the center, not exploitation.

Top fashion CEOs earn in 4 days what a Bangladeshi garment worker earns in her lifetime. The further you go down the supply chain, the smaller the piece of the profits pie. How can we call it “luxury” when the hands who craft it can’t afford to live on their wages?

There’s a lot of talk about luxury goods being made in the same factories as lower-priced items — exposing the lost value of craftsmanship. But what’s missing from the conversation is the extreme inequality built into this system.

Let yourself daydream, design fantasies, imagine beyond reality, then work backwards outlining what it could take to get there - I want a science fiction future

I feel like often biology, and especially biotech is one more thing humans use to separate ourselves from nature. But we are nature. We’re not outside of it, not above it. How can you look at a mountain and not be humbled? — that humility shifts everything.

The world of microbes is as mysterious and unknowable as the expanse of space. From the smallest cells to the vast universe, life thrives in worlds beyond our reach.
