We do not know who's going to play for the Mountain West Championship yet - it'll be determined by average computer rankings on Sunday morning. Four-loss Boise State may yet hold the crown!

The Sun Belt's out here doing it right. They kept divisions even when expanding, so they could emphasize regional rivalries (App St.- Ga. Southern, ULL-ULM, Troy-USA). Perhaps not coincidentally, they've got the only team who knows they're actually playing next weekend (JMU, SBC East champ).

For sports games, it makes the most sense IMO to release one new game every 3-4 years, then sell patches with annual roster updates and the like. The criticism I remember for Madden etc. growing up was that it was $60 for the same game as last year's.

That said, F1 is changing regs in 2026. Ouch.

It is a damn shame this wasn't scheduled as the last game of the season for both teams.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think Thanksgiving Week should be reserved for rivalry games. Why can't more conferences get this right?

Sean McDonough, already balding at 22 years old! Love it!

That'd make sense. The Mon-SJ-Fred market covers 10 of New Brunswick's counties, which would give you about that many people

How in hell do they get more than 600,000 people between Saint John and Moncton?! I *live* in Greater Saint John, and between us, Greater Moncton, and the Kings Region between us have 350,000 people (per last census)!

Don't forget about the Buffalo Bisons, AAA Blue Jays affiliate and gracious hosts for the Jays during the COVID border restrictions. I hope there are some Jays fans in Erie County!

What's the game?
October 23, 2025 at 3:22 AM
Well, it's good UMass gets a conference rivalry, and Buffalo finally has someone in the MAC to hate like Bowling Green-Toledo.

That said, the Minutemen's greatest rivalry will now and ever be the CUM Game!

You guys already had your first bye week. You played my Jets Week 2.

I miss when my team was competent.

At least college hoops starts in about a month and the PWHL (go Ottawa!) starts Nov. 21. And hey - I can see the local semi-pro team, the MWBA's Port City Fog, in the Spring.

I hope something happens so there isn't a WNBA lockout next season. I'd love to go watch a Toronto Tempo game next season, but my god has Englebert completely screwed up with both players (in negotiations) AND ownership (by selling a stupidly undervalues stake in the league to private equity).

Follow-up - Mt. A has won a football game!

Canada's last winless university football team improve to 1-6 with a 24-20 victory over St. F.X.!

There is good football everywhere - even in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, where the Mount Allison Mounties trail the St. Francis Xavier X-Men 20-17 in the third. Mt. A is 0-6 on the season.

It's the pushing the QB that gets me, because logically that should be considered helping the runner and a ten-yard penalty.

Hurts and others are good enough to get a yard or two on a normal QB sneak.

If I want to see a running maul, I'll watch rugby. They do it better anyway.

Thoughts on (Rogers) Sportsnet's scorebug? While this screenshot isn't from the ALDS, the Canadian network is originating a full national broadcast of the Blue Jays' postseason run (with Dan Shulman at the mic!).

I don't know if it's a strict substitution. Schlereth was Chris Myers's regular partner through September, while Sanchez worked with Adam Amin. FOX's broadcast pairings are scrambled by Amin & Joe Davis's work on the MLB Postseason.

I think I watched The Brave Little Toaster for the first time during one of those pre-emptions. WLBZ certainly made come programming choices back in the day.
