definitely something to keep an eye on. If we can continue to optimize things end to end ("tokens per watt per dollar") we can turn knowledge into abundance given the right environment. 🌈

Also, whatever OpenAI runs in Abilene, TX as part of Stargate is not part of Microsoft's cloud facilities. Microsoft is not perfect but they do publish sustainability reports for everything they do from the cloud to their supply chain.

It's more complicated than that. Yes, Microsoft has 49% of the commercial component but the controlling ownership is the nonprofit parent company. MSFT has invested billions for that 49% stake in exchange for usage rights and capped profits. However, Microsoft is not directly involved w/ Stargate.

Microsoft is not an owner or partner in Stargate. This is a data center partnership between OpenAI (not Microsoft), SoftBank & Oracle. If it were Microsoft you would see details about how they are actually using closed systems for water cooling which is sustainable.

Just watched his interview with @profgalloway.com and I'm impressed with this fella. He's highly qualified to lead a country through a real crisis (and he has before). Canadians are in good hands.

I don't doubt for a second that they're using LLMs for brainstorming evil. It's probably even the same commercially available AI that we use for cooking recipes and generating Ghibli art.
