In light of today’s tragic news from Tehran, it's worth reflecting on how public support for military action can change depending on how victims are portrayed.

Research with @andyvonasch.bsky.social and myself shows people are MUCH more likely to endorse strikes when the victims are unidentified.

Should we do psychology research to fight injustice & combat the world's problems? NO say Alex Schmid & Albert Jongman: the researcher's role is not to be a "firefighter" of social problems, but a "student of combustion." To understand, rather than chase outcomes. Do you agree?

Grad students have to learn both their field of study and how science is communicated, as well as what academic life is like. The Two Psychologists Four Beers podcast really helped me understand the "behind the scenes" of academia. Strongly recommend to any prospective psych academics! [link below]
