I could definitely see this, or Zack being an Ubuntu guy and Ian running something more obscure like Arch

Haha, sorry, had no idea.

I think they’re saying that they learned it from independent media. I learned about Judge Vaddadi from Publicola stories like this one ericacbarnett.substack.com/p/municipal-...
Municipal Court Judge Shadid Blasts City Attorney for Refusing to Send Cases to Judge Vaddadi
Ann Davison's office continues to refuse to send DUI and domestic violence cases to elected Judge Pooja Vaddadi, who filed a bar complaint.

It could be, although there are a few King County council members who do take public transit (Balducci and Zahilay). Mayor might be too big of a target, though.

Green is Harrell (more conservative), the other is Wilson (more progressive). The coasts and Northeast Seattle are generally wealthier.

Plus Staten Island (the most Republican borough) is running behind the others

It was especially telling when they ignored their “no stories based on hacked data” guidelines to talk about his Columbia application.

There are some signs of pushback? If you look at the special election results Iowa has some of the highest overperformers for Democrats.

Didn’t Texas and Florida reject this from the Biden administration during 2024? Can California do something similar here?

I think the divorce broke him. There’s a big shift in his behavior and support for causes around them.

Completely blind people use screen readers that read elements on the page. Alt text helps describe what is in the image and is said aloud by the screen reader.

Did you read his book?

Oral debates are also just a poor way to discover truth. The first chapter of Amusing Ourselves to Death has a great critique of it.

For example, Trump has lied about basic facts and programs 1000s of times. If you have a functioning reputation system, announcements about things like the free IVF program would be ignored or require a higher threshold of proof before reporting.

There are some, but who knows if ownership would allow it. Computer science and software engineering have their own approaches to dealing with lots of traffic/signal from
bad sources, some similar to building reputation systems. 1/2

IIRC it’s up to the new House to determine if someone can’t be seated; the old House has no power on the date of the new term.

I think it did in Oregon for a few years. They’ve changed the law recently to disqualify legislators who do this.

I think the plan is to hook in programmers at bigger companies, then when they build their workflow around it, they jack up the price and get the corporation to pay for it. Even $1,000/mo is small given a developer’s salary. Who knows if that will work, though.

They got rid of it, but minors can ride the bus for free.

Why is it controversial? Do those against it have any merit, or is it based on falsified research?
June 26, 2025 at 2:16 PM
As someone who got a CS job in the early 2010s, CS jobs were still high pay but less plentiful. Things got better when the wage suppression cartel was broken by Facebook. (2/2)
