These included penny licorice sticks with free Ringo rings, going to see the cinema films, acting out In His Own Write and SITW in drama lessons, reading god quotes from a Lennon MM interview in school assembly, seeing the Maharishi news footage from India and of course our 'iconic' Beatles tea tray

When I wrote PAOC my Beatles chapter, You Get Your Tan from Standing In The English Rain, contained lots of original ideas (not that hardly anyone noticed) I decided that when I wrote Ad Lib I wouldn't mention the music once, only associated cultural references to illustrate their ubiquity...>

November 1st and still picking ripening toms. Into the brown paper bag they go. We already have one bag full (also note in last pic trailing lobelias still going strong in the baskets) No frosts yet.

C has been tidying ground plants. All done for another year. All this time we assumed that Cosmos was in a plant pot hidden by hanging tomato trailers and strawberry vines. Nope. It wild seeded in that crack. Just look at it!

20 yrs ago this very week by my reckoning. I rarely write for therapeutic reasons and when I do it rarely therapeuts adequately enough to convey my feelings, but this from Ad Lib has the darkening days and the strength of my will all over it. And thank you The Times for letting me do it.

Pretty much exactly 50 yrs ago since I acquired this little fella. Bought from the Eastern Shop at the top of Park St. Lady went out back and plucked it off a shelf from a long line of buddhas. 'You wan' receipt wi' that?' she asked when she came back. This greatly appealed to my zen sense of humour
