Blurbs. Alive or dead?
Simon & Schuster says it’ll no longer require authors to get blurbs, saying the quotes put to much weight on who you know, overshadowing actual quality writing. But, S&S will still use the blurbs if the author has them. Has a blurb ever convinced you to buy a book?

A number of agents I’ve talked say dead, or at least a hard sell, unless you have a big platform. Has the story, no matter how compelling or well-written, become secondary to followers?

Many hours were spent to create the first throw-it-all-up draft of my memoir, LOVE, LOSS & HALLUCINATIONS. Many more hours were spent hacking out what did not serve the story (roughly the pages I’m holding). 73,000 words survived!
