As I said, regarding another instance of this recently, it's a values issue when the Guardian fails to attribute/mention independent media who scooped it days ago.

You can't fail to mention Lamestream and Ette had this correspondence days ago -- then run a half-page pop-up that says this.

Amazing answer to what kind of teenager he was.

In the latest, very defensive version of this ‘Hamas statement’ reporting — is the SMH saying it didn’t even know their source was in an Israeli prison before we sent them a questions?

How is that possible? It’s a 5 minute google?

Fantastic journalism from the Sydney Morning Herald. No notes.

Who is telling the truth??? Don't know if there are any facts that could help us get to the bottom of this one!

Welp, the 'enough is enough' moment for the media on Gaza was good while it lasted.

Glad everyone got to feel good by doing some hand-wringing about starving children!

Hope you got it out of your system, because that's also not allowed now and is hamas propaganda.

Oh, gender and culture? Yep, also those jobs are cut under the plan his MD rolled out last month.
July 5, 2025 at 1:19 AM
Williams frames the piece around history. The ABC tells our stories, and it's never been more important to hae a shared understanding of history.

Is this guy aware he just approved cutting the jobs of the people that write articles about history for ABC News?

So Kim Williams has made his first public comments since the Lattouf findings, in an opinion piece published in The Saturday Paper.

Some thoughts...

In my view, ABC management owes both Mashni and the public some rectification.

In particular, letting all staff know that voices like his are welcome and in fact NEEDED for the ABC to cover what is happening accurately.

The current answer falls short:

1. Mashni is said to have made a minor factual inaccuracy.

This, imo, would be an extremely high bar to enforce for posting interviews.

How many politicians or spokespeople regularly make minor factual errors in interviews that are uploaded regularly?

Some ABC tea on now-departed MD David Anderson and a staff note towards the end of his tenure.

Going to hold onto this characterisation, and compare to findings.

Later that day, after this e-mail has been sent, the ABC MEAA union house committee meets.

They are still concerned and say the below about the filing.

In their resolution they demand the ABC drops its argument Lattouf must prove Lebanese/Arab/Middle Eastern people can be subject to discrim
February 11, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Staff receive this email 'clarifying' the filing, and it's leaked to several journalists.

The explanation blames the Lattouf legal team's filings and how "some" "may" have "interpreted" them.

It does not concede on the wording of the ABC's own filing.

Counsel for the ABC file this about the race portion of the case, and it becomes public on the first day of the trial.
February 11, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Impartiality and how balance is achieved, is not a vague thought or contention at the ABC.

It is codefied. There's a definitive answer in the editorial policy.

But nothing is being contended in relation to this.

I wonder how the Herald-Sun came across this story, It couldn't possibly be from a Ronn Bechler, could it? Who posted this a couple of months ago?

Bechler seemed to be interested in informing all of Wellspring's funders about what he'd found while trawling this woman's posts.

So let me get this straight, a woman spends her life helping women in the migrant community, including helping them escape domestic violence...

And some people think it's legitimate to try and get her cancelled with the government, over her personal politics?

For anyone following the Info Wars/Onion/Alex Jones story, let’s all pour one out for one of the greatest hits:

Alex trying to pronounce Jacqui Lambie’s name and ending up with something that sounds like a Phantom Menace side character.
