Celebrity Traitors is what I imagine a weekend at JK Rowling's mouldy house must be like while she figures out who's not been cunty enough to a trans person in the last six months.

At what stage of the menopause am I at when the waft of a McDonald's chicken nugget took me straight to 1991 and unlocked all the lyrics to Beverley Craven's "Promise Me" and now I'm sitting greeting and sooking on a mint Aero?

This morning I have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice @angelaconstance.bsky.social MSP to register our concern over plans by the Home Secretary to provide new protest policing powers to police forces in England and Wales and to ascertain if the CabSec intends to mirror this in Scots law.

For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

This is an editorial choice. No other party gets this coverage. ~AA

It would be good if at least some of the energy poured into scrutinising hateful past comments by Irish hiphop groups could be focused on what is currently going on inside the main party currently leading all of the UK opinion polls bylinetimes.com/2025/04/30/r...

Groups set up by Reform UK officials contain posts calling for Muslims to be lynched and suggestions that Jewish people are trying to "dilute out country with foreign invaders"

Can anyone tell me the reason behind this trend on telly drama for the main protagonist driving a wildly out of date motor vehicle? The boxy Volvo estate of the 70s and 80s seems to pop up a lot, for example Black Mirror and Fear. But it seems to be there's an epidemic of auld motors on the telly.

This is an excellent article - I have some additional thoughts from a feminist perspective on the consequences of this Supreme Court judgment, rather than just my legal ones:

Thread 🧵
The UK Supreme Court’s transphobic ruling on the definition of woman last week is a defeat for all women—even, ultimately, the self-described feminists celebrating it, and the women who will gain in the short term from their alliance with the carceral state.

The UK's Anti-Trans Ruling Is a Defeat for All Women
Even the self-described feminists celebrating the Supreme Court's attempt to banish trans people from womanhood will pay a heavy price.

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.

They can't keep spewing carbon.

They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.

They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.
