Watching Back to the Future II with the kiddo for the first time. She's taken aback by the visit back to 1985. Shocking resemblance to today. I'm actually a little sick my my stomach.

"Nature papers aren't as good as they used to be..."

How Nature papers used to be:

(Seriously though, I kinda wish papers were shorter and conversational rather than impenetrable epics.)

So I put "Open for Work" up on linkedin for 12 hours and got a message inviting me to consider China to continue my work.

No matter if you consider it a scam or real, it pretty much spells out how the world views what's happening the US.

Carrion to be picked over. That's scary

It seems like capitol police denial of their involvement is *techically* true, per Politico. But DOJ officials did in fact show up at the Library of Congress office today, confirming Wired’s reporting: www.politico.com/live-updates...

OMG, watching Flight of the Navigator with my 8yo. The first part consists of: 2 kids physically fighting, the parents letting their 8yo hop out of their car and play in the water with randos, a 12yo threaten the darkness with "I've got a gun" and expect their 8yo to walk home at night alone. #80s

I recently went to donate some things at a thrift store drop off. I love in the DC area and didn't expect this level of hostility for the CDC from the donation totes.

Watching Free Guy for the first time, the movie is... passable. I suppose I can say I don't regret spending the time watching it which is above expectations.

But I think that my favorite line has to be, "Oh he -found- the button." I couldn't stop the snort-laugh.

If you’ve been directly impacted by a pause or cancellation of an NIH study session, we @forbes.com would like to talk to you
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

We identified protein domains in LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor). Their distinctive amino acid usage reveals the order amino acids were added to the genetic code, based mostly on size. Older proteins hint at earlier alternative codes. 1/15 @seekingluca.bsky.social www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
