Outrageous use of language! The @bbc ought to think harder. But also this could be the introduction of safe, legal routes which we’ve all been looking for. No-one wants smugglers or small boats. A proper application process (like for the Ukrainians) is what’s needed.

What I can’t work out is 1) does it apply to refugees and 2) does it apply to those who already have refugee status, are poised for ILR (which is currently 1 year before you apply for citizenship) Causing so much stress among existing, hard-working, integrated etc etc refugees.

Isn’t this a sort of re-establishment of the Dublin agreement that fell with Brexit? I suppose it depends when in the process it happens.
