I'm reading right now in preparation for the editing of my PhD script. Harris book is a combination of multi sensual memoirs of the cuisine of the gay 1989s in New York and other cities, a cookbook as well as a intimate reflection on the circle around James Baldwin and Maya Angelou.

I am struck by how little people still now about the importance of Black German history even in Germany. Yezenia spoke about the work of Noah Sow and I also spoke about the Black German elders but also new folks such as SchwarzRund. 2/

The works that I have read from scholars such as Pamela Ohene-Nyako, Jeannette Oholi, Meryem Choukri, SchwarzRund, and Esther Kondo Heller gives me lots of hope.

Much like other African diasporic communities are not a monolith. What works for one community doesn't necessarily work for the other. But to think that race and ethnicity do not impact these minoritized communities past, present, and future is just plain old foolish.

Just a little reminder that Black Europe is not a monolith. The concept itself poses problems for some. I will drop some news in the spring about Black Europe too. Stay tuned.
