Per-precinct final data are now available for King County, Washington's general election. In the race for Seattle mayor, Katie Wilson defeated incumbent Bruce Harrell by just under 2,000 votes.

"She didn't prepare and pass JumpStart! The council passed it!" As I've noted previously, this is the attitude of someone who thinks the guy who cuts the ribbon is the one who did the work.

If this is all Harrell has—accusing a group whose staff is almost entire Black, brown, and Asian of darkening his skin on a debate watch party invite because they're racist—he's doomed. Sauce so weak it's dribbling off the plate.
oh my god. first of all, that's not Katie Wilson's campaign, it's an unrelated group led by Black and brown Seattleites that supports progressive causes and candidates. Second, that isn't "darkening"—if anything, they could be accused of turning the knob on "Trump orange"

what in god’s name is going on across the lake
Tonight in "Medina problems" at this week's city council meeting: concerns that too many Medina residents have been paying to plant donated trees in memory of a beloved person or pet in Medina's park spaces and that the number of plaques is now "distracting."

Immigration attorney Matt Cameron is calling for a social boycott of ICE - everyone should read how we can all do our part to fight fascism
"THE BIG FREEZE is [] radical guerrilla tactics. But I also believe that if we can’t cabin immigration enforcement away now as the known province of white nationalist Nickelback fans who are hopelessly bad in bed and never tip more than 10% that we don’t stand a chance of stopping what’s coming."
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO STOP ICE NOW
it's going to take all of us, but we can all do this

"Voters, gaze with horror upon the most terrifying extremist ever to menace Seattle since Kshama Sawant!"
[cut to: Katie Wilson helping her kid onto the light rail escalator and dropping a sheaf of housing affordability studies]
Wilson is the perfect progressive candidate because the perfect rebuttal to calling her "extreme" is just... being herself. Wonky. Mild-mannered.
For the 4th time in a year, Seattle voters made their preference for more progressive governance clear.

In the mayoral race, Katie Wilson leads the moderate incumbent mayor Bruce Harrell.

Wilson’s opponents tactics of painting progressives as extreme may have gotten stale. #SEAelex #WAvotes

It’s funny the way Seattle was, like, the “City of Seven Hills” and then we unceremoniously sluiced one of them into the bay.

This is why the Bove seat was vacant, and there’s a real throughline from the forces that defeated the previous Democratic nominee to where we are today.

Redwood Transit System 20
Vehicles: 19
Fare: $14.00 ($85.05 total)

Holy crap, what a beast of a truck minibus! This is one of those truck minibuses that feels like it's breaking apart at the seams. But it's okay - this is our last bus today and it's taking us to Crescent City!

Torres probably engages in some amount of opportunism but his beliefs come from a much darker place: being a NY Democrat
Many on the left assume that Torres has cynically embraced pro-Israel politics to attract donors. But I have never believed that. I think Ritchie’s political commitments are sincere and partly due to negatively polarizing himself against the pro-Palestine and socialist left.

I predicted this would happen: The attempt to shut down credible non-antisemitic voices against what is happening in Gaza has not stopped people from seeing the obvious atrocities. Instead, it has ceded the anti-Israel lane to obvious antisemitic cranks like MTG and Tucker Carlson.

by using the term “fixed-guideway” this also includes the 1 2 3 4 13 and 14 buses in Seattle
how many fixed-guideway public transit stops in the usa are within walking distance of a beach? Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Rockaways in NYC and Downtown Santa Monica station in LA and i think that might be it?
the main issue with "we don't need more public parking to improve access to beaches, we need more public transit and bike lanes" is that we way too consistently end up doing none of these things

LET ME SAY IT IN A WAY YOU WILL UNDERSTAND: Hundreds of people jammed onto a four-foot-wide sidewalk moving in the slowest possible ways—like walking three-legged, stuck behind a toy car propelled by pulling on a chain link fence—were still faster than the L8.
