shoutout to my mp3 player, I can listen to music ad-free and it probably doesn't fund drone strikes
Every young generation explores retro technology because it’s cheap and plentiful and exotic but it’s more alluring when current technology gets actively shittier, more evil and invasive.

this article completely misses the point that the big businesses are the ones lobbying to perpetuate climate disaster for profit.

Cop30 was a disaster, completely ignoring any action on critical fossil fuel emissions.

this is not how you fight climate change. this is how you push blame away from the corporations pumping out more emissions in a day than an individual will in their lifetime.

most of these are also more expensive and therefore inaccessible for many.

you fight climate change by fighting capitalism.

Solar panels are a path to energy independence. Not just for countries, but for individuals too. And that, I think, is going to be a challenge that governments are going to have to grapple with. Because control of the electrical power supply is actually a pretty big lever of social power.

thinking about LLMs now, and imo it's important to distinguish a Large Language Model from "Artificial Intelligence" because conflating the two is like the "organic" phenomenon -- that is, the fancy branding means nothing even close to the actual meaning of the words.

gen z shouldn't judge gen a for having brain rot, because we absolutely do too. we should judge them for the *quality* of their brain rot, because our era of the internet was clearly better. I'll take Hatsune Miku and "road work ahead? yeah I sure hope it does" over Skibidi Toilet and 6-7 any day.

Leave the leaves!

They act as a blanket for the ground in the cold months, keeping bugs and plant roots warm.

They also let trees put the resources stored in the leaves back in the ground.

Lawns and raking are purely aristocratic roleplay, and it's nonsense.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

what a surprise to absolutely nobody.

mutual aid and food banks are a must at this point.

if Epstein's bestie is too busy trying to take away people's healthcare (which is what all this is about, in case anyone forgot), we have to be the ones to take care of each other.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.
