One of my favorite identifiers of "quality" (totally subjective) of these kinds of games are boss fights that seem totally impossible in the first couple runs but eventually are beaten in a way where you take almost no damage because you "solved" the fight mechanics.

Getting the very first covid vaccine, then sitting around for the next day and a half feeling sweaty and miserable and in pain while using that as a time to finally play Hollow Knight has become a weird core memory for me.
