2025-47. The Shadow of the Gods, by @johngwynneauthor.bsky.social - 4/5
The start of a new big epic fantasy trilogy based on Norse sagas, it took me a while to get into the world and characters, but then it became great! Orka's my favourite character and I started book 2 this morning, haha

Reading @tomgauld.bsky.social 's "Revenge of the Librarians", I saw this and had to post it to give to my author friends 😄

And while in Manchester, don't forget to visit the John Rylands Library too, although that one's more to visit rather than use (and tell me you'll be around so we can meet haha)

2025-46. Utterly British maps, by Helen McKenzie - 3/5
Very interesting and quirky maps, but very short!

Oh wow I saw that! It's at the National Space Centre, and that was my immediate reaction 😆

2025-45. This Book Will Change Your Mind About Mental Health, by Nathan Filer - 4/5
Mainly focused on schizophrenia, it presents a vivid picture of the arguments surrounding mental illness, both from examples from patients and his own experience as a mental health nurse.
It made me think a lot...

2025-44. The Enduring Universe, by Kritika H. Rao - 5/5
Fantastic end to an underrated trilogy!
Science-fantasy full of physics, (Hindu) philosophy, engineering, love and community, a study on consciousness, middle-age marriages/couples, disability acceptance and change, and oh so much more!

2025-43. Maps, annotated, a DK edition - 3/5
A monster of a book I asked for at the library without seeing it, haha, it's basically an illustrated history of maps.
Interesting, but far more detailed than my general interest warrants.

2025-42. Things no one else can teach us, by Humble the Poet - 4/5
Great stories about his life and what he learnt, good and bad events; lots of food for thought about my own life...

2025-41. Before Your Memory Fades, by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - 3.5/5
This being the third book in the series, I feel the formula is getting a bit stale. Maybe wait longer before reading the next one, because the stories are nice and do make you think...

2025-40. The Sovereign, by @clclark.bsky.social - 5/5
I'm still speechless from the last third of the book, which I devoured. What an ending to the trilogy, definitely not what looked like from the first book...
Yes, my heart is still in pieces 💔

2025-39. The secret GP, by Dr. Max Skittle (pseudonym) - 3.5/5
Interesting stories/diary of a GP in a major city (I assume London). I don't know if it's only there, but there are a lot of home visits!!

Mine's in the bones - and I'm getting treatment for the rest of my (hopefully long) life!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Lots of people talk about Breast Cancer, but do you know what secondary breast cancer is?

2025-38. The Faithless, by @clclark.bsky.social - 5/5
Even better than book 1! I love plots of 'what happens after the revolution', +the character development was amazing, especially for the 2 main characters. I also wanted to slap them to stop being silly and talk oh-so-many-times!😁👩‍❤️‍👩
*picks book 3*

Today is World Mental Health Day: I wish that everyone takes daily care of their mental health, and for those going through a rough patch, I wish strength and get well soon 🥰
Me, I'll continue taking my tablets which help a lot, and hope that I don't have a serious episode anytime soon 🙂

2025-37. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Chemo, by Ileana Von Hirsch - 4/5
Funny memoir about having breast cancer, I picked it up at the library because it's one of the few that continue on to mets, so more aligned to my experience.

2025-36. The Unbroken, by @clclark.bsky.social - 5/5
I re-read book 1, now that I have the entire trilogy in my hands to read in one long go.
Still an amazing book about colonialism, compromise, faith, love (in all shades) and sad realism.
October 5, 2025 at 10:09 AM
Hey @clclark.bsky.social , look what I picked up today already, my pre-order! 😀
I'm still re-reading the others, though, to remind my sieve-like memory haha

2025-35. Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal, by @robinince.bsky.social - 5/5
Part autobiography, part explanation of the condition - ADHD and general ASD. Lots of personal stories from many people, it helped me understand others a lot (and certain personal traits in myself).

2025-34. The Wheel of Osheim, by @marklawrenceauthor.bsky.social - 5/5
What a magnificent book, and trilogy! I think I enjoyed it even more now on this re-read.
Everybody just talks about new books, but there are great gems published years ago that deserve to be discovered by new readers.
