Food allergies are like a hidden disability.. and out here we've noticed that people don't really believe in them, or would just pigeon-hole us into a statistical box of "necessary casualties" for *insert political agenda*

I know we aren't alone in this. Food allergies are complicated and scary when they're severe.... corn is one of the worst, because it's in everything. Vitamin fortified wheat? Corn derived vitamins. Meat? Washed with corn sourced vinegar. It isn't recognized as an "allergen" so regulation is nil.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this. I don't really expect anything... but I guess I'm putting it out there that no, not everyone can rely on food banks if SHTF. I don't know what we'll do. Hunt squirrels I guess, and hope they haven't been eating someone's deer corn.

Even what we can get at the store is limited, because he's allergic to corn, and I'm allergic to soy. I won't end up in the hospital with a burning, peeling rash all over my body, if exposed to corn starch, corn sugar, corny acids, corn vinegars, or corn derived vitamins... but he will.
