Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakow died on this day 117 years ago on June 21st in 1908.
Although this famous piece “Flight of the Bumblebee” 🐝 is not an original for us, I like to play this version for demonstrating circular breathing. Günther Beugel gave it to me.
I am still trying to get better on this.

Swedish composer who wrote the wonderful Saxophone Concerto for Sigurd Raschèr in 1934.
2. Sigurd Rascher was born on this day 118 years ago on May 15th in 1907.

Gabriel Faurè was born on this day 150 years ago.He did’nt compose for sax. “In Paradisum” is an adaptation.

While NS Glaser had to flee to Danmark and later to Sweden.

Takashi Yoshimatsu was born on this day 72 years ago on March 18th. Happy birthday!

1991 Yoshimatsu wrote this here played "Fuzzy Bird Sonata" for alto sax and piano (here with Fritz Walther) I guess Takashi Yoshimatsu is good friends with the grandious Nobuya Sugawa.

Adolphe Sax died on this day 131 years ago on February 7th in 1894.
For me he is the absolutely most important inventor of all times, because he gave this fabulous instrument to us!
Born as the son of an instrument builder, who started playing around in the workshop of his father already as a kid.

His famous concertino pour saxophone Alto et Onze instruments I started playing this piece in 2007
and played it in 2009.
He’s a very romantic and virtuous man.

John Stubblefield was born on this day 80 years ago on February 4th in 1945.
This man is incredible important for my career, because he told me circular breathing! I met him in the year 2000 in New York City at a concert from Mingus Bigband.

Happy birthday: Philip Glass was born on this day 88 years ago on January 31th in 1937. 🎂🎉✨
In my opinion, he is one of the greatest composers ever, because he wrote this piece for the Rascher saxophone Quartet. Love the energy!

Erland von Koch died on this day 16 years ago on January 30th in 2009.
Born in Stockholm, lived, studied & died there. 1958 he wrote his concerto for saxophone and Orchestra for the famous Sigurd Rascher.

Friedrich Gulda died on this day 25 years ago on January 27th in 2000. His most famous composition of him is the concerto for cello and wind Orchestra.
