Built in 1938 and eligible for the National Register of #Historic Places, the Eighth Avenue #Bridge in #CedarRapids #Iowa, will be replaced. We'd like to see the #ArtDeco railings saved. Thoughts from other cities about repurposing them?

Saving pieces of the past. ❤️ This floor grate from an early-1900s home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has an 1885 patent date on the underside. Rescued by our volunteer salvage crew before the sweet house is demolished.

Iowans are still recovering several years after the hurricane-strength derecho. We're honored to play a role in recovery efforts by offering low-cost, high-quality doors to fit the era of damaged homes, such as this one, going to a 1910 home in rural Van Horne! ❤️ #Sustainability #Iowa

With an average of 50 doors saved per year, like this late-1800s beauty, repurposed in Czech Village in Cedar Rapids #Iowa, our volunteers have kept 3 tons of materials out of landfills the past 3 years in doors alone! Let us know if you'd like to join our #sustainability efforts in the #NewYear! ❤️
