TFW I realized I missed this account's 1 year anniversary by a whole-ass week!

10 years ago, the idea for this #FanGoji story sparked into my brain, and has stuck ever since
July 16, 2025 at 4:47 PM
Even as a kid back in 2008-2009, I thought it was odd that this "T. rex" had three fingers, but when I saw the featurette confirming it as a Giga, my brain sent off alarms, because I already knew Gigas did not have Rex-like skulls

Even JWD at least actually had a skull closer to the real animal
June 13, 2025 at 12:35 PM
-like, am I crazy for seeing the resemblance here?
June 13, 2025 at 12:25 PM
Actually kinda funny yet neat, because we practically got such a scenario with Gorosaurus from "King Kong Escapes"

His lore specifies that he's a descendant of Allosaurus or a close relative, but his general skull shape and shorter arms appear to be a dead ringer for a stylized carcharodontosaur-

Wait, DUDE, I JUST REALIZED!

Surely I'm not the only one seeing the resemblance here!

But it's also the time we got cursed with this abomination:

Aah yes, the iconic "giant sailback Baryonyx" depiction, one that was as capable on land as Rex and Giga

It's the era that gave us these iconic gems right here:

Prime examples of really good Utahraptor designs right here that can work for Red:

In light of the #JurassicWorldRebirth trailer, I decided to try a little photomanipulation with the T. rex design to see what it could look like if the anatomy was closer to a more accurate skull shape

The changes aren't actually too significant, that's how well the design holds up to this day

'Allosaurus: Rules of Nature' Short AMV

Made in tribute to the edgy dinosaur AMVs of the 2000s while celebrating my birthday, and what better dinosaur to use than my childhood favorite: Allosaurus!

Overall, I found myself instantly liking PhP's depiction of Tarbosaurus bataar. Much thanks to @tetzoo.bsky.social for gifting us with this magnificent animal and the series it is seen in!

While I would've liked to have seen how Tarbosaurus interacted with the likes of Therizinosaurus, Deinocheirus and Tarchia, I'm still content with what the show has provided, given all four animals still get their moment to shine in scenarios not explored as much for media depictions
April 28, 2025 at 9:46 AM
That same aura carries over into the second season, where we see a trio of Tarbosaurus hunt a herd of Nemegtosaurus and Mongolian titans, taking advantage of the dry season providing plenty for the predators like with lions in several parts of Africa
April 28, 2025 at 9:33 AM
I very much respect how the show portrays Tarbosaurus having such an aura that commands respect as a top-order carnivore without the need for it to roar and stomp like in many movies, just its presence alone is enough for other animals to keep a safe distance as they know what it's capable of
April 28, 2025 at 9:11 AM
-a fair chunk of predatory reptiles today have similar color mixtures

I use monitor lizards as an example because of the face they have color vision like dinosaurs, so even with the drastic size difference, it's the best analogue I have ATM
April 28, 2025 at 9:04 AM
The coloration of this animal being a combination of various reds, blacks and yellows is a personal win in my book, but what makes it actually work is the fact that it blends relatively well into its desert habitat, which I feel is reasonable area for a red-colored megatheropod, since-

The fact we see this giant animal living in family units out in an open, arid habitat reminds me a lot of lion prides in Africa. We do have bonebeds containing multiple genera of different ages, so it's reasonable to speculate social groups, even if it's just as likely to be coincidence if anything

Why the Tarbosaurus bataar in "Prehistoric Planet" is my favorite carnivorous megatheropod in the series

Overall, it's quite clear I'm definitely fond of Allosaurus and its closest relatives. Regardless of validity for some, like Snax and Tenda, there's no doubt these magnificent predators will continue to garner my appreciation

And seriously, we need another movie or show where Allo's the main star

But of course, the most common and well known is the ragil, even having the honor of being essentially "king of the dinosaurs" before the description of Tyrannosaurus rex dethroned it. But even so, it's still an impressive and iconic animal in its own right

It's actually impressive how the closest relative of the American jimma actually lived in Europe instead of being initially thought of being closer to the ragil or even considered being it until recent publications confirmed otherwise
April 24, 2025 at 7:02 AM
My personal faves are obviously the anak and the ngonyama, even if I still hold hope the former's a valid genus. As for the latter, I honestly wished we'd find evidence of a legitimate African allosaurid, whether it's in the Allosaurus genus or something new entirely but still very closely related
