we're covering NEAR DARK tonight!

a movie so near and dear to my heart. it's a white trash vampire movie set in oklahoma! they mention ripping peoples faces off multiple times! the main character is a cowboy who looks like he's about to vomit the entire movie! bill paxton is a hot dirtbag vampire!

she also recruited dustin tahmahkera and the late juanita pahdopony, who both co-consulted on everything from language and name accuracy, to the look of clothing and weaponry, to the story itself

myers recruited fellow experts like kevin starblanket, who taught the cast comanche combat, tracking, and sign language

in fact these guys take up very little screen time, w/ the majority of the movie (thankfully) being devoted to amber midthunder and dakota beavers as naru & taabe, who KILL it (metaphorically & literally). they give the most grounded, heart-wrenching performance of siblings i've seen in a long time

predator is a brilliant mirror for the brutality of colonialism. they're both invaders, hunting for trophy and sport--and like just predator, the trappers don't realize they can be prey, too. rest assured, you're gonna get to see these dudes get murked in a lot of very fun ways

now fair warning: prey doesn't pull a single punch. the violence is visceral and constant--and not just because predator is fighting everything and everyone he can get his laser-sights on

spoiler alert: she sure as hell's gonna go for it, ready or not, and she's gonna do it with the coolest weapons you've ever seen. because this is a predator movie
