This is not how to lock your bike

Also, this lock can be cut with secateurs probably...

Being a car-free family with two kids has been very doable for us. This has helped:
- make transport a factor in important decisions (nursery, school, clubs, work, etc)
- own good waterproofs
- ask people for lifts (to A&E and birthday parties out of town)

Every bike is a cargo bike 🙌

This is my 10-yr old's bike, loaded up with a flute, a violin, rucksack with book and packed lunch, fleece and coat. Double panniers and some old inner tyre on the rack to tuck coat under.

Best way to spend a Saturday: riding through town with a bunch of kids singing "say hey, ho, stinky cars have got to go!"

Motornormativity by Stenaline @ianwalker.bsky.social

Kids go free, but only if you travel by car... And yes, they do have a 'rail and sail' deal but it's not nearly as good as this offer. I have asked them to reconsider their offers.

@flightfreeuk.bsky.social - interesting for you too!

Your neighbours need help - do you have a cargo bike?

On-street bicycle lift in Nijmegen 😍

Nijmegen is a bit hilly so this lift allows people on foot and on wheels to avoid the climb from the quay side to the centre of town.

I grew up in the Netherlands and this kind of infrastructure still blows me away. This is a suburb of Leiden, built in the 70s, with beautiful cycle paths in green corridors through the entire area 👌
Ps. Paths are well lit after dark too btw.

Definitely! To be fair, there is a dropped kerb (well, kind of) not far from where I parked but it's beyond the racks and with a very busy pavement it doesn't make sense for me to push my cargo bike onto the pavement and do a 180 turn on there. Also, these racks are always full.
July 23, 2025 at 1:36 PM
If there's no dropped kerb and/or racks are full I am parking my cargo bike on the street. Cannot make up my mind about parking in a designated bay or not. Sometimes there's a motorbike in this space so I park next to it.
