Something that started as a hobby now is getting bigger by the moment and I never thought it would be anywhere advertised

All the nodes are ready! This time, I decided to write the names before hammering the nails. Last time, I waited until after because I wasn’t sure if I’d need to change the base — but this time I wanted more space to write and make sure every name is clearly visible! #DHMakes

Once I have everything more or less figured out, I use a pencil to mark small crosses on the wood where the nodes are — this becomes my guide for later, when I start writing the names of the artists who participated in this network of the different versions of Las golondrinas. #DhMakes

This time, I didn’t make a prior design in Canva — just improvising as I go, because it has been quite stressful at work and I needed some freedom and playful time

After getting everything roughly in place, I start adjusting the projection while looking at the wood to make sure the network sits exactly where I want it. Then I play with the space, deciding whether to leave areas open for archival materials, photos, and other elements. #DHMakes

I think it would be super cool and maybe would be interesting to use flourish for this! In December I will take an extra day over there after the Digital Duende, so we could have some extra time for this and see the yarn lab!

That would be super interesting! I will be happy to help!

Since it's recycled material, you can see that the nails aren't going in properly. So I'm trying to glue them or find other solutions, but it isn't working today. #DHMakes

I really wanted to do the SNA of Teatro de Arte and their hybrid pieces, but I would need a bigger wood! Quite sad, but here we go again with #DhMakes and a new chapter of #NailsandNodes. Ready?

I’m thinking maybe add on the sides the hand program of the different versions and play around with the small space I have this time

. @sararribas.bsky.social: Gephi's 2D screen flattening the network viz=harder to see all the community connections (lines literally cover other lines). In person, ability to see physical threads connecting nails/nodes from the side is remarkable, not obscuring smaller networks of connections

. @sararribas.bsky.social: physical research making work also let her recheck her digital methods; slow down & reconnect w/the historical people & info her dataset represented.

. @sararribas.bsky.social: she's not saying the digital methods and Gephi aren't important or are less than these critical making methods—those gave her the tools to do this physical making, & to do further work w/Gephi too. It's a conversation between complimentary approaches.
