What a terrifying development. The expectation that institutions will turn out robot workers on a higher ed assembly line is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. The fantastic small liberal arts colleges of Iowa don't fit this model - their graduates are well-rounded critical thinkers, not automatons!

My daughter and her wife both contracted a crazy-dangerous strain of pneumonia this week; daughter-in-law in the ER with 104 fever. SilentGenMama sees a surgeon tomorrow after MRI revealed she has fracture, ganglian cyst, & severe arthritis in left wrist. #SandwichGeneration

Heartbreaking moments this morning with 2 of the first-graders I volunteer with at a Title I school. I watched them go from happy, relaxed, and confident while we worked orally with decoding and encoding to intensely anxious and physically uncomfortable when asked to write a sentence. #literacy #sor
