Went to see London Renters Union showing of their film Hostile Housing today - powerful stories of pain and suffering in the housing crisis. Good to see many Hackney Labour policies align with Renters Union’s work - calling for rent controls and landlord licensing in Hackney.

I’ve joined councillors and council climate leads in signing @uk100.org Climate Pledge - we’re calling on @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social to include a climate and nature duty in English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill and the funding to deliver it. We’re tackling climate change right now.

The Unitarian Chapel in Newington Green is holding a multi faith 24-hour vigil tonight, reading the names of all (recorded) who have died in Gaza and Israel since 7 October 2023. Reading each person’s name and age felt like a small but powerful act of shared mourning.

Come and see this Low Carbon Chinatown exhibition in Hackney’s Service Centre (just behind the town hall). It’s beautifully designed and gives us 100 climate actions to discuss and think about. Great to see the food growing and cooking of Gainsborough School kids too - homemade ketchup!

Enjoyed the afternoon at @hackneyfixers.bsky.social Hackney Fixing Factory working out why our ancient projector won’t work to show our home movies from the ‘90s. Saw a toaster and a coffee grinder being repaired. Many happy fixers enjoying taking stuff apart and putting it back together. #fixfest
