The white behind the embroidery thread is just water soluble stabilizer and I’ll wash it away when I’m done with the project.

Another embroidery project I started back in the summer and will likely continue to slowly work on till next summer. My tv fandom blazer. I’ll post some progress pics if you want to guess the fandom, some more straightforward references than others. I’ll post the answer in the alt text.

And here it is with me in full costume. I went as Rio/Death, Aubrey Plaza's Character from Agatha All Along, the costume is fairly screen accurate and all handmade. The breastplate is entirely from my imagination, ribs covered in moss and lichen and beading, all hand embroidered by me.

It’s finally ready! I’ll post pictures of my full costume after Saturday, but I’m so thrilled with how this ribcage “corset” turned out.

Nadja and Cap out on the town this weekend.
Nadja is a costume from a few years ago, I do a new costume for our party every year, but Nadja is one of my all time favorites so I take her out to other people’s parties whenever I get the chance.

I still have work to do to make this thing wearable, but I believe I’ve completed the embroidery and beading embellishments. It’s probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever made, now to not f$ck it up.

Officially at the point where I'm so close, but it feels far. My goal is to be done by mid week at the latest because I still have to make it wearable and work on the other parts of my costume. #embroidery

Slowly but surely making progress. Taking a break right now because I’m experiencing that bleary eyed tunnel vision sensation of working on one singular thing all morning/afternoon.

I’ve never done stumpwork embroidery before, stumpwork is essentially 3D embroidery, and I’m so delighted with how my little turkey tail fungi turned out. I haven’t attached them yet, but in the last image I placed them on my ribcage breastplate so you can get an idea of how I plan to attach them.

I imagine Zuko welcomes my decorating with a begrudging acceptance each year. After he finishes inspecting my work and giving what I’m sure is a scathing critique of my choices, he does enjoy using it for cover from which to survey the neighborhood.

The ribs are each made from 3 layers of felt stacked and then wrapped in stretch velvet. Secured mostly with hot glue and about to be stitched onto a black felt backing.
