It’s fun seeing all the love for Vermont right now. We are indeed a mighty little state. We are also a complex one, and our history is fascinating. If you are newly obsessed with Vermont history and protest, check out my 1960s-set crime novel.

Thinking so much about everyone in Southern California. We were just out there seeing friends and family and now some have lost their homes and all are suffering amidst this unfathomable trauma and loss. Hoping for some lucky breaks for the brave men and women fighting these fires.

Happy New Year from the California coast! I was grateful for friends, family, readers, health, animals, flowers, stories, community, and creative work I love this past year. A lot is uncertain about the months ahead, but I’m hoping to hang on to a spirit of kindness, purpose, and discovery!

I visited the passage tomb at Newgrange in February, 2021, so not the winter solstice, but thrilling nonetheless! Happy Solstice, everyone. May you find light in the darkness!

I’m carrying out the final stage of the copyediting process for my next book — reading the entire thing out loud to catch any hiccups or last edits I want to make. I’ll try not to take the reactions of my audience personally.

Introductions? I’m Sarah. I write crime novels and farm here in Vermont. I’m the author of the Maggie D’arcy series, about an American homicide detective in Ireland, and Agony Hill, the first in a new series set in 1960s Vermont. It’s got spies, murder, homemade pickles, and small-town life.
