And yes, I was the last Black full-time columnist in the Opinion section.

Washington Post -- operating in a city which for a long time has been majority Black, is now without any full-time Black opinion writers.

Top *eight* articles on NYT devoted to Charlie Kirk, top one asks if he will be remembered like MLK. This is a man who only a tiny percent of Americans had even heard of before his death, whose views are too nasty for NYT to detail. But they are trying so hard to turn into martyr.

"Not all homeless people deserve involuntary lethal injection" is one hell of an apology.
Brian Kilmeade apologized for his comments about homeless people getting lethal injections this morning on Fox & Friends, saying "so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion."

The official language of Jamaica is....wait for it.... English.

These performances truly are targeted only at the stupidest people alive
Eric Trump: "As I showing up to the studio, there was an older Jamaican man who came up to me in very broken English and said, 'Mr Trump, I'm very sorry about Charlie Kirk. He was an amazing Christian. I am Charlie Kirk.'"

Just so we are all clear, you can see the bullet holes from the road, driving by. This is inSANE.
I took this picture myself at the CDC protest today. These are among the hundreds of bullet holes in CDC headquarters windows, visible from the street. I heard today that the admin has no urgent plan to fix these windows.

Imagine being a CDC employee going to work under these conditions

When the other members of the crew asked for a chance to say goodbye, a Border Patrol agent told the crew member “you need to get the f*ck out of here. I’m going to make you leave.”

This is such a no-brainer that the lack of a coordinated response feels deeply damning. A Democratic leadership team that can't mobilize an instant all-hands-on-deck effort on RFK Jr. isn't a leadership team at all.
I know Democrats are overwhelmed (or rudderless, if you are less charitable) by the sheer volume of Trump authoritarian moves, but I’d like to see them unified behind specific goals like “RFK Jr is a threat to public health and needs to go.”

A patriotic and dedicated public servant who is outraged at the dangerous direction HHS and CDC have gone under Trump and RFK. Many more people will die.
It won’t fit in screen shots but linking here the full letter of resignation posted by one of the departing CDC officials, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, who ran the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases and led efforts to fight COVID, monkeypox, and bird flu

Many of the men deported to CECOT said they are permanently changed: struggling to sleep, drink water or leave their homes.

One man broke into tears describing how he had a panic attack the first time he walked down a busy Venezuelan street.

Over the past four months, a photojournalist documented the lives of five families whose sons had been imprisoned in El Salvador, including their long-awaited reunions. CECOT left a mark on the men, t...

That was one of the most batshit press conferences of Trump's public life. He brandished a photo of Putin and promised to deploy the US military to occupy Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. A sane country would be moving toward impeachment and removal right now.

"We've spent a lot of money on the military and now they have nothing to do so we might as well let the president use it domestically to satisfy his own petty grudges" is precisely why the Founders feared a standing army.

I mean, it's pretty much fucking verbatim.
Comer: "We're gonna support doing this in other cities if it works out in Washington DC. We spend a lot on our military. Our military has been in many countries around the world for the past two decades walking the streets trying to reduce crime. We need to focus on the big cities in America now."
