Hello/Hola! I'm looking forward to connecting with old and new friends soon but not until I've written the first chapter of my WIP, an historical novel about Jewish refugees in the UK and the Dominican Republic during WWII. I also enjoy reading contemporary fiction. What are you reading?
Where are you protesting on Saturday? Lots of options in Maine, and others driving down to Boston and DC. #mepolitics #Handsoff

@mainepeople.bsky.social is currently seeking a #Maine farmer that participated in the now suspended USDA Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program to speak to the program and their experiences with it at an upcoming advocacy event.

Does anyone happen to know someone that fits that bill?

1/🧵 Judges across ideological lines are ruling against Trump at strikingly similar rates (84% liberal, 86% centrist, 82% conservative). This isn't partisan opposition to Trump—it's the judiciary functioning as intended by cutting across partisan lines to uphold the Constitution.

So it appears DOGE has decreed that Social Security administration will no longer provide phone support. At all. This is in addition to shutting down a ton of local SSA offices. www.axios.com/2025/03/17/s...

New, from me:

Trump is whitewashing American history, removing not just people, but also the stories, images, and values to anyone who does not conform to his impoverished vision of America.

Here is a partial inventory. 🧵

Here is one weird form of public participation this tax season:

If you can, use Direct File, the free IRS software to enable you to report your taxes. The more people that use it, and report good experiences, the harder it will be for DOGE to later remove it.

I just called my senators in Maine and was shocked that Ind Senator King was undecided. Your call matters! #mepolitics King in Portland: (207) 245-1565. Collins in Lewiston: (207) 784-6969.
CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.
🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.
