I got Olana from a vet who was a breeder. She was opposed to most vaccines. I didn't listen to her.

Congrats.
You have a dog, right? Long dog walks will help ground you and turn off the hamster wheel in your head.
Or so I'm told by a friend.

Love the ANDOR reference. Here's another.

I've been marching for nearly 60 years. Never regretted going to a protest. You see kids and dogs, oldsters and babies, signs and flags. Strangers talk to one another. You feel like you have friends everywhere.
Bring a hat, wear sunscreen, and leave before dark.

Arvada, CO understood the assignment. 2 thousand? people in a suburb of Denver. Easily 4x as many as at previous protests. Young and old. Hot but joyous and determined.

Here is my sign for tomorrow. You'll get it if you've watched ANDOR, which is the only Star Wars work with gravitas.

Sometimes you see THE photograph of a moment. This figure, lost in a fog, is not cowering. His position seems to say, "Bring it on, Bozos."
Whatever this corrupt administration can throw at us, we will not be deterred from protesting for justice and due process.

This week I saw ZONE OF INTEREST, the German film about a family blithely living next door to Auschwitz, ignoring all the atrocities, and I'M STILL HERE, about a Brazilian family whose father is "disappeared" by an right-wing dictatorship.

Both are true stories.

Both rhyme with recent US events.

I'm sorry that MAGA, Kash Patel, and the Secret Service are so stupid.

1) Ezra Klein, @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social, interviewing historian Steven Hahn, asked about how Trump's STYLE mimics that of Joseph McCarthy. Hahn didn't answer.
As someone who has taught "The McCarthy Era," I'd like to draw parallels.

Dear 50501/No Kings Protestors--

I see you with your comfortable shoes, your hats, your water bottles, your heartfelt signs, and your anxieties about where to park and where to pee.

I see you with your hopes and fears about the future of a once proud nation.

March with joy.

We had two rescue mutts that separately lost their hearing/seeing and their cognition at about 17. The lab mix became incontinent and inconsolable; the basenji mix tried to jump up on our bed when she was in the living room facing a wall. Heartbreaking times.

Went to the protest in Denver. Nice crowd, clouds gave way to sun. All sorts of clever signs.

Let's think about the meme going around. How on earth does it make sense to cut Federal monies for the forest service?

Josh Marshall at TPM writes of Schumer's rolling over. This cannot stand.

Hello, Bluesky.
After leaving the bird site 18 months ago, I followed journalists to Post.news, which folded. Recently, I sought community here.
I am a retired professor of film history; I've published a 4- volume epic fantasy, The Nine Realms, with Tor.
I'm crazy about dogs.

I teach film musicals.
I had never seen the stage version, generally disapprove of "piggyback" properties, but I. Loved. #Wicked.
See it one a big screen. (Keep your local theater alive.)

If you want a break from political news, I'm mesmerized by the new podcast about Keiko called "The Good Whale."
