Community is the only way.
Wapo article does a good job covering two realities: How deeply watching a parents‘ immigration arrest affects kids, and how DC residents are organizing “walking buses” and neighborhood lookouts to help kids with immigrant parents get safely to school. wapo.st/3VNYZ08
They watched ICE detain their dad. Now D.C. neighbors escort them to school.
Immigrant neighborhoods across the District have organized “walking school buses” to shuttle kids to classes during President Donald Trump’s federalization of D.C. police.

David Duchovny: "We want to get educated to be able to work, to have a job of some kind, which is great and it's necessary. But we've lost sight of educating a mind on how to think or a soul how to feel."

I voted no on the RFK deal.
Not because I don’t love football.
But because I love D.C. more.
We just cut programs for kids & housing, now we’re spending $1B+ on a stadium?
That’s not an investment.
It’s a loss.
And our people deserve better.

HARRIS: You're correct. I did predict a lot of that. But what I did not predict was the capitulation.

Today on Juneteenth, we acknowledge the moment when all African Americans were finally notified of their freedom.

Still, that “freedom” is a loose term.

Ending chattel slavery and the transatlantic slave trade was a moment of liberation, but that alone doesn’t define freedom. 🧵
