Two babies fresh out of the wrapper this morning, the cow on the right is so
Maternal, she wants the other one and was giving all the signs of ‘don’t come close to my calf’ you really do need your wits about you.

Every time I look at my crops this year I have to give myself a talking to and remind myself it is a lot better than this time last year.

30mm of rain and flooded out again 60acres under water and a 4 mile drive between farms becomes an 8 mile drive as we have also lost the road out of this village and the next one along the valley.

The Hay Barn is Christmas ready to welcome guests for the next fortnight. They were our first ever guests and come back to us every year spring and Christmas. We love them!

Another grey old day… in stark contrast to yesterday. A bit more sun would lift a lot of spirits just now

It’s coming… can’t avoid the March, 4 Christmas trees to decorate, 3 holiday cottages to clean and prep and a whole heard TB test before the 25th. Childs play.

5 grey Heron, 3 swans and what on earth are they doing to the Viaduct - that is a vast amount of stone they have spent 8 weeks piling up along side it!

Quietly pleased to see the water draining out of the valley

Antidote to a dull day - cover crops aren’t looking as strong as I would like - lack of sun and zero nitrogen left behind the wheat.

How was your day?

Mince pies cooked and hidden from the tribe until Dec. They have to last till Christmas - I’m not making any more mincemeat!

Extra grab rails in showers make a huge difference not just for wheelchairs but anyone who isn’t totally steady on their feet.

Accessibility: I am passionate about it. It doesn’t need to mean institutional. It can be done well so easily.

Thanks… can we go for something a bit more padestrian… maybe a nice photo or two?

I opted out of social media in the spring, got busy building the final accessible holiday cottage, failing to have a good harvest and generally trying to keep life going. If you want a nosey www.castlechase.co.uk
