I’m a ZooMS convert! Can’t wait for us to be able to do this more regularly in Aberdeen!
Spotting her first MALDI plate! Thanks to @archaeoprotein.bsky.social for offering this wonderful training opportunity to @sarahbarakat.bsky.social and helping us further develop our ZooMS capacity in Aberdeen @uoa-archaeology.bsky.social - and for running our first PALaEoScot samples with us!

Very excited (and a bit nervous) to announce that I will be hiring two Postdocs for my new group(!) in Copenhagen to study the Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA which survives in present-day humans. Retweet will be much appreciated :)

Last week I attended the 2nd IZAZ meeting on methodological advances and novel applications in ZooMS and had the absolute best time! Thank you so much to the everyone there for making an isotopes person feel so welcome! I’m very exited to learn more about how I can use ZooMS in the future!

🧬🔬 Smart science from Heikkilä & Barakat: Maximizing collagen samples by combining #ZooMS & isotope analysis on the same extracts from Late Pleistocene France. Efficient methods = more data from precious samples! #IZAZ2024
