Farid Guendoul (28) was chased by 11 teenagers through Guben in East Germany in 1999. He hurled himself through a glass door and cut an artery. No one helped him and he died bleeding out in the doorway. Farid was from Algeria+had sought asylum to escape the civil war that killed my own grandparents.

OTD in 1993, 4 men set fire to the home of a family of Turkish origin in Solingen, Germany. Gürsün İnce, 27, jumped out of a window and died. Her 4-year-old daughter, whom she had held in her arms, survived. Hatice Genç (18), Gülistan Öztürk (12), Hülya Genç (9) and Saime Genç (4) died in the flames
