I don't think we should talk about climate change anymore, we should talk about kitchen-table issues. Like how climate change will destroy your kitchen table and everything else you have

we worked so hard on this, nights and weekends, trying our best to do a good job for the American people
BREAKING: A source tells me that the Trump administration has shut down public access to every single National Climate Assessment, the Congressionally-mandated quadrennial report assessing how climate change is affecting the U.S.

This is what you get when you try to access them online

This is theft, plain and simple. They stole this from you. Every deletion, every erasure, every website that goes dark is a crime against the American public
The US Global Change Research Program's website, including all its sub-domains that host the National Climate Assessments and related reports, is now offline.

The 1990 Global Change Research Act (see below) mandates its research findings be available to all federal agencies & departments.

A Covid infection can be extremely serious for an infant. A Covid infection can be extremely serious for an infant. So it just makes sense for masking to be the standard in all health care settings for newborns and their caregivers.

@volts.wtf is 100% right. If we brought this to SF I’d cry tears of joy.

Great to see the Climate Change Committee (CCC) calling for public figures to “lead by example” on climate change, citing our research.

CCC says leading by example increases public buy-in and behaviour change @thecccuk.bsky.social

Now that we have a palpable and immediate analog, it's good for the rest of the country to understand that the shitshow within the federal bureaucracy is 2 or 3 times the order of magnitude of what the White House team has so far done with global trade regime/equities markets.

Fifty years ago, life expectancy in the U.S. and wealthy European countries was relatively similar.

That began to change around 1980. As European life expectancy steadily increased, the U.S. struggled to keep pace — and its life expectancy even began declining in 2014.
Not even wealth is saving Americans from dying at rates seen among some of the poorest Europeans
Experts said a new study of wealth and mortality in middle-aged and older adults points to deep-rooted health risks in the U.S.

Decades of misinformation has left the American populace ignorant of the world and how anything works.

Like the cuts across HHS, CDC, FDA. How do we get people to understand we are soft fleshy villagers constantly under attack by invisible monsters, and we just fired all the wizards and witchers?
From talking with people I still don't get any sense that the public truly understands the rolling, concussive systemic failures coming due to the dismantling of all corporate oversight, regulatory autonomy, labor rights, consumer protection, and the social safety net

If there's one thing that domestic violence research has taught me, it's that abusers set up no-win scenarios. They punish you whether you cooperate with them or whether you push back.

The only way out is to strengthen ties with people outside of the relationship who can create new, better options.

I know an American refugee who moved to a rural bush place in North Ontario.
He thought it would be red state so he got a gun license.
In meeting locals he would drop references to his gun.
Finally one said, "What's with you Americans and guns?"
They all have guns.
They just keep them locked up.
