Starting this account off by posting some of my favourite albums (as of now) from various extreme metal genres
Note, that while the majority of music I like is extreme metal, my interest isn't exactly limited to only extreme metal or even just metal

This album is just beautiful. A great guitar tone, nice symphonic elements and quite a bunch of good riffs. The band appearently calls their style "Majestic Black Metal" and it couldn't be more fitting.

this has got to be one of if not the best MeloDeath albums of all time; the riffs, guitars and production produce a sound, that wields awesome melodies alongside the usual OSDM style

this has got to be one of if not the best MeloDeath albums of all time; the riffs, guitars and production produce a sound, that wields awesome melodies alongside the usual OSDM style

This album has so many amazing melodic riffs, it's amazing; highly recommend this, if you're looking for an epic/melodic Black Metal album

This album has so many amazing melodic riffs, it's amazing; highly recommend this, if you're looking for an epic/melodic Black Metal album

Raw Melodic Black Metal; brings a lot of darkness, but also quite a lot of melody with the production and riffs; I also love the cover art; a desolate place with a few small light sources fits this album really well

More of a slower paced Blackened Death Metal album, that combines slow and crushing Death Metal with the intensity of Black Metal (especially on the first three tracks), but does also have more dynamic songs later down the line; one of my favourite Death Metal albums

More of a slower paced Blackened Death Metal album, that combines slow and crushing Death Metal with the intensity of Black Metal (especially on the first three tracks), but does also have more dynamic songs later down the line; one of my favourite Death Metal albums
I'm looking through all available tabs on MetalTabs rn and all the notes seem to suggest, that every song is played in EADGBE a whole octave below standard tuning, meanwhile it also says C# or Db standard...it all makes no sense honestly

Abnormality seems to have played C#, but Contaminating the Hivemind (my fav album from them) sounds like it's around B aswell; def way lower than C#

finally getting a functioning cable for my guitar distortion paddle might have made me realize, how bad the mixing / production on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is
like the opening riff of Funeral Fog sounds evil AF, but they somehow managed to make it not sound evil with that mix

Listening to the new Slaughter to Prevail album rn; I guess this is mostly just NU Metal with Deathcore Vocals and Breakdowns; quite mainstream friendly, no wonder why they are the most popular Deathcore band

this might unironically be a contender for my favourite song of all time, even if the vocals are completely abscent. The raw production makes the acoustic intro sound dark and gloomy and the melodic riffs sound just that much more amazing; too bad Aphazel didn't do vocals back then
